CHAPTER 1264 DownwinD October 2008 NEWSLETTER
The Young Eagles Rally is on for Saturday, October 18. There will be no regular meeting on the 14th.
Young Eagles 2008 – Volunteers still needed – see page 2
The event will start at 9 AM at the Gavilan College Facility. We still need more volunteers for the registration table and other duties. Also, now is the time to get the word out to any neighborhood kids or kids from your family, school or church . Get me names and addresses and I will send out registration forms. This is going to be a scaled-down event this year – we will not be providing a BBQ lunch unless someone comes forward and volunteers to take over all the buying, cooking, serving and clean-up.
Get Well, Harriet
As previously reported, member Harriet Brin was injured in an accident while riding her bicycle on September 16th. Harriet is now recovering at home; she was released from the hospital on the 22nd. We wish her a speedy recovery.
Dan Martin second at Reno
Powered by a Mike Barrow race engine from his Hollister shop, our Dan Martin piloted Dago Red to a second place finish in the Unlimited Gold Class at Reno. Congratulations , Dan, for a great finish.
The Calstar crew quarters are shown here; a crew of three will be on duty 24/7. The helipad will be located at the near end of the building. The facility is located on the west side behind the executive hangars. Calstar wants to move their maintenance to Hollister when a large hangar can be built for them.
