NO PROGRESS IN OUR SEARCH FOR NEW OFFICERS
It has been brought to my attention that it might be helpful in finding new officers if we would give job descriptions for the various positions. Finding interesting speakers and programs for our meetings is a challenge – new people bring new ideas and this is precisely what the chapter needs right now.
Job Descriptions
President – Conducts monthly meetings & provides leadership in planning and setting chapter goals. Responsible for annual charter and insurance renewal. Conducts annual meeting of Corporate Board of Directors. Delegates responsibilities for social events and works with the vice president in finding speakers and programs that are of interest to the members.
Vice President – Assumes duties of president as needed. In most large chapters the V.P.is responsible for finding speakers and programs and works with the president in planning hangar parties and other social events.
Secretary Treasurer – As we do not take minutes at our meetings, these two positions are combined. The treasurer collects the dues, manages the bank account, pays the expenses and makes an annual financial report to the membership.
Newsletter Editor – At the discretion of the editor, the newsletter may be a simple meeting notice or several pages with color photos – electronic only – no mailing. The president and/or vice president should have a monthly column.
Young Eagles Flight Leader – Assembles a team of volunteers including pilots and ground personnel to put on this important annual event. The flight leader is responsible for contacting schools and youth groups, getting the posters out and getting the event in the local newspapers. We have been holding this event for several years and have experienced volunteers who know how to do the various jobs.
